Construction Solutions Company: Building Information Modelling (BIM)/Design Review – Research and Evaluation

Our Lean review was broken down into the 3 streams – Electrical, Mechanical and Ducting. The approach taken included:

Preparation – Discussed the main SIPOC (suppliers, inputs, process, outputs, and customers) of each stream, high level issues encountered, S/E metrics, client metrics, financial impact and drivers.

Virtual value stream mapping – Reviewed standard workflows, current state documented process steps and communication lines. Discussed any known variations to the standard and recorded areas of weakness or concern regarding waste or non-value add activities.

Data analysis – Performed detailed data analysis of constraint logs and resolutions of same. Performed correlation and regression analysis to establish causality, ownership, and levels of repeatability/recurring errors. Drilled down on root causes, financial impact and resulting effects on current workflows.
