Leading Edge Group, in partnership with the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, is hosting a free education seminar on how Lean has been successfully deployed and sustained in both multinational settings and within public sector organizations. The seminar is targeted at all sectors including public, private and not-for-profit organizations; executives, managers, supervisors and project teams and all those who are interested in enhancing their career. Human Resource and CGA and CIM professionals who attend will gain 2 PDUs.

Keynote: Continuous Improvement: A professional journey using Lean within the Private Sector

Callie Woodward, Director of Continuous Improvement at Tim Hortons Inc.

Callie Woodward has over 20 years’ experience working with both Tim Hortons Inc. (THI) and  Canadian Tire Corporation and has spent the last six years implementing Continuous  Improvement and Lean systems thinking within THI working with the executive group to  develop governance structures, customized frameworks, capability programs, measures and stability mechanisms. Callie will present on the journey and, in doing so, focus on the organizational benefits, opportunities and challenges experienced through the deployment of Lean.

Implementing Change Successfully: A HR Perspective

Joseph Krasman PhD, Assistant Professor, Business and Information Technology, University of Ontario Institute of Technology

Crucial to the success of any Lean deployment is effective change management, to provide relevant insight in this regard, Dr. Krasman will present on how change can be implemented successfully from a human resources perspective.

The Benefits and Challenges of Applying Lean Strategies. A Case Study from the Public Sector

Jane Bishop, Director of Healthcare Services, Leading Edge Group

Jane will present on the application of Lean in the public sector, focusing on why the methodology is relevant in the public sector and where it has been successfully applied. In doing so, Jane will also provide a case study on one of the may Lean success stories from the public sector.
