Environmental Waste Management: Lean Start Program
The company was overstretched and under pressure to manage and execute all office tasks and specifically the sales invoicing process. As a direct result of Lean training, we supported their mapping of all processes and sub-processes in the office.
To maximize cash flow effectiveness, the process of getting job reports submitted needed to be speeded up. The overall “job ticket to invoice” process required mapping to identify bottlenecks and identify improvements to help reduce/remove the impact of these bottlenecks. The objective was to reduce time in invoicing process to minimize pressure on cash flow of the business
As a result of the program increased workload due to recently won business became more manageable and did not require any additional resources. Some of the key principles of Lean were embedded in the business that is now increasingly reliant on data-based decision making and waste minimization across the core processes.
The financial benefit to the company was estimated at €10k per annum. Outside of cost savings delivered, they now use problem solving, waste walks and 5S to interrogate what they do and identify what they can change and improve.
The client was shortlisted for a Lean Award at the Irish Lean Business awards ceremony soon after.
