Joe O’Callaghan

Senior Lean Trainer and Coach

Joe has a First Class Engineering Degree from University College Cork, Ireland and a MBA from the Open University. Joe has over 30 years’ hands-on experience at process improvement, including the practical application of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Before his mentoring and training work he had international responsibilities in leadership positions in some high technology organizations. He has worked production, engineering and service functions in a variety of management roles. Joe joined Leading Edge Group in 2005 as our Senior Lean Sigma Trainer and has successfully leveraged his experience to educate and train healthcare, supply chain, manufacturing and service clients in Lean and Six Sigma tools and techniques and assist clients with application of course theory to practical implementation. The many hundreds of assignments on which Joe has mentored has resulted in significant savings and improvements delivered by Green Belt students for their organizations.

He is a lead mentor for all of the Green Belt programs offered by the Leading Edge Group in Ireland and the UK, and delivers both remote mentoring and classroom training for the company. Joe lectures on the Lean SCM Green Belt certificate as part of UCC’s Certificate/Diploma in Supply Chain Management. This course is provided by the Department of Food Business and Development and Joe has been delivering the Lean Green Belt training in that course every year since 2006. He is the lead mentor for the Institute of Industrial Engineers Lean Green Belt program. Joe has contributed content to all of the Leading Edge Group Green Belt courses for both online and taught courses.
